Philo is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Financial Analyst (FP&A and Accounting) with a robust accounting background and expertise in tax to join our finance team. This candidate will split their time between Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and Tax/Accounting work. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing in-depth financial analysis, strategic insights, and decision support to enhance the company's financial performance and strategic initiatives. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, analytical prowess, strong communication, and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and business planning.
- Develop and maintain complex financial models, forecasts, and reports to provide actionable insights into financial performance.
- Prepare detailed financial reports, including variance analysis, budget vs. actual reports, and financial projections.
- Assist in reviewing and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Manage and analyze tax-related issues, including compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, tax planning, and preparation.
- Collaborate with external tax advisors and internal teams to optimize tax strategies and ensure accurate reporting and filing.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting and analysis efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data, validate assumptions, and ensure accuracy in financial forecasting.
- Evaluate business opportunities, investments, and projects through rigorous financial analysis and scenario modeling.
- Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process, including coordination with various departments and ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Assist in the preparation of presentations for senior management and stakeholders, highlighting key financial insights and recommendations.
- Stay current with industry trends, financial regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and optimal financial management.
- Assist in special projects as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; CPA desirable.
- 4+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, planning, and reporting, with a strong background in accounting and tax.
- Proven experience with financial modeling and forecasting
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software (e.g., Netsuite, or similar ERP systems)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS), and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience with tax compliance, tax planning, and working knowledge of tax regulations and reporting.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.

Compensation: Includes annual salary between $100K - $130K depending on experience and location, company stock options and health benefits
