Fabletics is currently looking for an Engineering Manager.
The Fabletics Ecommerce Technology team builds and operates the digital experiences powering Fabletics across web, mobile app, and ecommerce infrastructure. This role leads two high-impact squads: the Mobile App Platform squad, focused on our native mobile experience, and the FAST (Features and Support Tasks) squad, which owns our bugs process, internal customer support, and ecommerce enhancements. These squads are fast-moving, high-visibility, and directly tied to business outcomes.
How do you fit in?
We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead engineering and QA talent across Mobile App Platform and FAST. This is a people-first role: you own career development, performance, and day-to-day support of engineers and the QA team across both squads from day one. You'll manage the day-to-day rhythm of your squads – standups, sprint ceremonies, project planning, and process health – while advocating for your team's needs and ensuring commitments are delivered on time and at a high quality bar. Your first six months are focused on building relationships and owning Mobile App Platform delivery; by month six, you take on full operational and delivery ownership of FAST as well. Reporting to the VP, Product & Technology, you'll sit on the Fabletics Technology leadership team and help drive team, technical, and process strategy across the organization.
The FAST squad operates in a high-availability support environment. Ecommerce doesn't follow a 9-to-5, and this role requires a manager who is accessible for production escalations and time-sensitive bug triage outside of standard business hours. This isn't an every-night commitment, but it is a real part of the job.
We take AI seriously, and this role is a big part of why. If you get genuinely excited about how AI is changing the way engineers build, test, and ship, and you want to be the person who drives that adoption across a team, this is the role for you.
This role will report to the VP, Product & Technology.
What you will do:
People Leadership & Development
Own growth, performance, and engagement across both squads. Run structured 1:1s, provide coaching, and build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. This is where you'll have the most impact.
AI-Driven Team Enablement
Champion adoption of org-wide and team-wide AI tools as a core part of how your team works. Ensure engineers and QA teams are actively integrating AI into planning, code review, testing, and documentation and encourage experimentation with emerging tools as the market evolves. Drive process improvements through automation, including AI-assisted mobile app testing, and continuously identify new opportunities to raise the bar. You set the standard for what AI-forward engineering looks like on this team.
Mobile App Platform: Squad Ownership (Primary Focus, Months 1 to 6)
Own delivery, sprint health, technical direction, and stakeholder alignment for Mobile App Platform. Own mobile app releases and app store communication in partnership with the Product Manager, and maintain a roadmap balancing feature delivery with platform architecture investment.
FAST Squad: People Management and Ramp to Full Ownership
People manager for all FAST engineers and QA team from day one. Transition to full squad ownership by month six, including the bugs process, and support Office Hours and backlog management, in partnership with Product.
Engineering Quality & Reliability
Hold a high bar for code quality, test coverage, and production stability across both squads. Partner with DevOps and QA Automation to champion CI/CD best practices and ensure what your teams ship is reliable, observable, and built to last.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Hiring
Serve as the primary engineering contact for product, design, and business stakeholders. Collaborate closely with peer technology teams including Retail Technology, Web, backend FOS, and Data Analytics, to deliver cross-squad initiatives and new customer experiences. Translate priorities into engineering plans, communicate trade-offs clearly, and represent your squads with credibility. Own your talent pipeline: resume review, interviews, and offer decisions within the established process.
What you can bring:
3 to 7 years of software engineering experience with 1 to 2+ years in an EM or team lead role.
Experience leading mobile and/or web engineering teams; familiarity with React Native, TypeScript, React, and Node.js/REST APIs.
Proven people developer with a track record of growing engineers, navigating performance conversations, and building strong team cultures.
AI-Forward Mindset: Active daily user of AI-assisted development tools. You accelerate adoption, not just tolerate it. You've thought concretely about how AI changes how teams plan, build, test, and ship.
Strong technical foundation that lets you engage credibly in architectural discussions and recognize technical debt.
Comfortable with occasional off-hours availability to support FAST production escalations and urgent bug triage.
Excellent communicator, clear under pressure and credible with senior stakeholders.
Ideal candidate brings foundational AI literacy, including experience using generative AI tools, and a proactive mindset to experiment with new technologies to drive productivity and innovation.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
