Tracera is seeking a dedicated Software Test Engineer to join our team. In this role, you'll collaborate closely with our Engineering, DevOps and Product teams to assist product and engineering teams in building and deploying a world-class Sustainability Platform. This role offers a unique chance to deliver a high-quality product to our customers, and in turn make a significant impact by helping companies comply with ESG regulation and their efforts towards their sustainability goals.
Our goal is to make ESG data collection and reporting easy, efficient, and enjoyable. We help sustainability teams focus on driving meaningful impact in Environmental, Social, and Governance domains rather than getting bogged down with reporting tasks.
How did Tracera come about?
Tracera is an AI-enabled data management and reporting solution designed to automate the ESG data gathering process and provide real-time insights into ESG factors. This software makes ESG reporting and decision making seamless by optimizing extraction, validation, and transformation of relevant data. It is built from the ground up with auditability in mind.
Tracera aligns operations with global climate goals, promotes social responsibility, and enhances corporate governance practices. Their 5 values are: Truth, Trust, Transparency, Totality and Time.
Tracera was founded in 2022 and is headquartered in New York. Tracera receives funding and support from Bain & Company as well as other top VCs.
What will I be doing?
In this role, you will play a crucial part in guiding our product delivery. You will act as an exploratory tester for new features that we’re working on. You will support all product deployments with feature regression and necessary testing. You will work with automation engineers (or spend a portion of your time) building automation test scripts for critical and stable features. You will act as a quality advocate and collaborate with engineers to educate them on what test cases they should be building in their unit test case suite.
To be more specific, you will engage in the following tasks:
1. Standardize the Product testing process
o Work with the Engineers, Designers and the Product team to develop a check list of all existing features
o Plan, create, and manage the overall Quality Assurance strategy
o Identify quality assurance process bottleneck and suggest actions for improvement
2. Identify, prioritize, and test bugs
o Routinely check all features including data upload, viewing permissions by user, and confirm the functionality is working as expected
o When there are issues, create detailed, repeatable bug tickets with illustrative screenshots, recordings
o Work with the Product and Customer Success team to prioritize issues
o Work with the Engineering team to replicate the bugs and confirm whether the fixes have been implemented correctly
3. Be user #1 for new features
o Work with Product and Design to fully understand the requirements for the new features
o Perform hands-on exploratory testing across platforms for the new features
o Organize bug bashing “Jam sessions” to test work in progress features
o Identify gaps and ensure that the Engineering team is clear in terms of next steps and division of responsibilities
What You Will Need to Succeed
· Be able to think like a product manager and put yourself in the customer’s shoes.
· Solid experience in manual exploratory testing of complex software products
· Experience in creation and documentation of pragmatic software testing strategies
· Able to clearly document, report, and present test results to stakeholders
· Practical understanding of software development including basic knowledge of at least one coding language (JavaScript preferred)
· Experience with testing specialties such as accessibility, security, performance, and data
· Be a fast learner and able to learn new tools, processes, and skills quickly
· Bonus: Automation experience, especially with tools like Cypress or Playwright
That sounds just right to me. Who are we looking for?
Qualifications
· Undergraduate in Science, Tech, Engineering or Math (STEM) or equivalent experience
· You have 1+ experience in software testing, ideally for a SaaS platform
· Experience working in a distributed Agile/SCRUM software development lifecycle
· Bonus points for familiarity with the software startup ecosystem
Qualities
o You thrive within a high-speed startup
o You are meticulously organized and have a keen eye for user experience
o You are passionate about sustainability
· You are a hands-on problem solver, proactively approaching challenges with a positive attitude and good communication skills
· You are an empathetic team player willing to jump in and do whatever it takes
Please note that this role begins with a 90-day evaluation period during which you will collaborate with the team to define your objectives. Your performance will be assessed based on these objectives at the end of the 90-day window.
Why should I join Tracera?
You will be joining an exciting seed stage startup with a clear mission to simplify ESG compliance. We are a group of smart, hard-working, passionate, and fun-loving individuals committed to making the world a better place. Here, you can leave your mark by supporting our clients on their most pressing issues.
